The Power of connection through Art

Art is often described as a window into the soul, and for me, it’s much more than that. It’s a bridge—a connection between my heart and the hearts of others. Each brushstroke I make is infused with the hope of sparking an emotional response, much like the one I witnessed when a lady stood before one of my paintings, tears streaming down her face. She felt an overwhelming connection, she bought the painting immediately and in that moment, I knew my mission: to paint as much as possible and share that joy with as many people as I can.

The Challenge of Balance

Creating art is a delightful chaos. I often joke that my head feels like a popcorn machine, ideas popping left and right, clamoring to escape onto the canvas. Sometimes, I even feel like I need a personal assistant just to keep up with my creative thoughts! But alas, I have two teenage boys, two dogs, and a supportive husband who all seem to need my attention at the same time. Balancing family life with my artistic endeavors can be a juggling act worthy of the circus, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Why I Paint

My abstract pieces draw inspiration from nature—the earth, the ocean, and the very essence of life itself. I love to explore how we are all connected through the same energy, much like the waves that ebb and flow, bringing both calm and excitement. Each canvas reflects this interconnectedness, inviting viewers to lose themselves in the colours and shapes, to feel the rhythm of nature’s heartbeat.

Fun is vital in my life, both in painting and in parenting. I always say that if I can’t laugh at myself while I’m covered in paint, then what’s the point? Life is too short to take too seriously, and that’s a philosophy I carry into my artwork. Painting should be fun! It’s a playful dance of colors, a joyful exploration of what it means to be alive.

Striving for Connection

As I strive to create and connect, I remind myself that every painting is a chance to evoke emotion, to tell a story, and to share a piece of my heart. I want everyone who encounters my work to experience that profound connection, just as that lady did. So, I’ll continue to paint, even if it means squeezing in moments of creativity between school runs and dog walks. The world needs more joy, and I’m determined to sprinkle it around, one brushstroke at a time.

Moving Forward

Thank you for joining me on this journey. Let’s celebrate the beautiful chaos of life together—through art, laughter, and the connections we create. If you ever find yourself moved by a piece of art, know that it’s not just paint on canvas; it’s a piece of my soul reaching out to yours. Let’s keep this connection alive!
